London: Team India captain Virat Kohli has been fined. He has been slapped 25 per cent of his match fee for violating the ICC Code. The ICC has taken action against LBW's aggressive appeal against Umpire Aleem Dar in a match against Afghanistan on Saturday. The ICC said Kohli violated Article 2.1 along with Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. A demerit point is also imposed. Currently, the number of demerit points in his account has reached two. Kohli admitted wrongdoing before referee Krisbrad.
The first ball of the 29th over by Bumrah in Afghanistan's innings was defended by Rahmat Shah. On appeal, the umpire declared himself not out. Kohli expressed dissatisfaction with the umpire. Kohli was outraged by the strange gestures and comments on the ground as the ball was not giving out to the wickets. The replay later showed that the ball hit Rahmatsha's bat on the inside edge of the bat. When the ball appeared to touch the leg stump, India was waiting for the DRS. The final decision was called out.
